Before digital wallets, people used to have to go to a bank branch to transfer money, pay utility bills, apply for loans.

For example, buying a plane ticket and immediately getting an installment option, or shopping on e-commerce and being offered insurance.

Bank Indonesia is also developing Digital Rupiah or CBDC. If realized, this will be a new chapter for a more efficient national payment system. The biggest challenge is education and consumer protection.

As access becomes easier, people must also become smarter in choosing products and protecting their personal data.
